Mouse & Keys extension cable sensitivity

Hi all:

I am totally new to Linux. I'm trying to get a great Distro (BearOps) up & running. One problem I have encountered is that Linux does not detect my late model Logitech wheel mouse if it is on an extension cable. (Windows can "see" it down this extra but of cable). I also have my keys on similar cables, and may encounter same when I finally get LILO to reboot & get into GUI.

Should I go into BIOS and somehow up the voltages to mouse & keys?

-Thanks, -Tunes.
