hi all
this is a pretty basic question.I have a test lab in my office and my buddy i dont know what he did ,suddenly the mosue is not working on the box and it is red hat 7.1

could anybody suggest me what cud i do besides rebooting it ??i ahte reboots!!

is there an option i cud hav it detected.
also i wanted to know how to use the Xserveer without a mouse and just with a key board!!

type xf86conf or x686cfg in root mode, I think. From there, you can choose mouse-type and keyboard for use in X-mode...
Xwmconfig lets you choose which xwindows you want,
and startx starts the xwindow...

cd /dev
look for something called psaux
this happened to me to
$cat /dev/psaux
then wiggle your mouse
if random characters go across the screen, tehn /dev/psaux is now your mouse
change the Device="/dev/mouse"
to ="/dev/psaux" in the appropriate x config file
for mandrake, it's /etc/X11/XFree86-Config-4
