mounting usb in RH9

Hey,

I'm trying to mount my usb pen drive on Red Hat 9.
I have made a folder called removeable in the mnt directory. and have written this in my fstab:

/dev/sda1 /mnt/removable vfat user,noauto 00

When I type mount /mnt/removable this error message comes up:
mount: mount point /mnt/removable does not exist

can anyone help.

Double-check spelling, both in fstab and in /mnt/. Check that the user has read and execute rights for /mnt/removable.

Otherwise, this looks very much like what I've done in RedHat 8.

Tip! Once you get it to work, you can use "System tools" > "Disk management" to conveniently mount and unmount the device.

Good luck!
Martin

I checked the spelling and I did have a spelling mistake, but it still wouldn't work. I typed in the command dmesg, which I got from another post (being a newbie, it didn't mean much, but instead of having sda1 in the fstab I tried sda and it now works

Thanks for all the help.

got my pendrive to mount. we use Fedora Core 2. Shutdown the system. Stick the pendrive into the USB and then start the system up.

Then add the fstab entry (use vfat) and try the mount.
The shutting down and rebooting need be done only once.

hope this helps.
