Mounting Problems

I am trying to install WOW (World of Warcraft) on my computer with Crossover.I have just recently installed Ubuntu 10.4 which means i am new to it. I can mount the dvd but can only view the installer file. I need to know how i can mount the dvd showing the hidden files. I will list the command that i used.

sudo mount /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom/ -o unhidden

After i enter this command the message pops up.

mount: block device /dev/sr0 is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sr0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

If anyone knows the problem your help would be greatly appreciated.

I would expect whatever options you use to be earlier in the command after mount and the last part to be the device and mount point. Do you actually have a directory under /media called cdrom? I will assume so.

I've never actually done this, but I believe the command would be "unhide" (without quotes) rather than unhidden. Saw this on another site recently but don't have it bookmarked. Worth a try.

I do have the directory of which you speak. The problem i am having is mounting it as unhidden. I have tried using "unhide" (no quotes) but the only thing that happens is the folder does a quick flash like it did something and it shows up without the hidden files still. I hope this helps a little more. :)

I'm not familiar with Crossover but isn't it software to run windows programs on Linux? Do you have a DVD folder in /media or just the cdrom? I've used wine (Linux program to run windows programs) and if there is an icon for the program, you could just click on it and when the pop-up window opens, write wine for the application to use.

What you are saying is you only see the World of Warcraft installer file when you mount and you know there should be other files??

copy the files on the disk to hard drive?
being a mandriva gui type person ,Id copy the files on the disk to hard drive drop drag with dolphin then point cross over at that folder id use wine to run windows programs (with in a frame setting the window size), but Im not really much of a gamer.
