Mounting non EXT drives

What is a good way to mount an NTFS drive to linux and watch media off of it?

I'm thinking the answer is going to be Wine but wanted to check here first.

Or look at auto mounting with udisks

As long as you don't have Fast Boot enabled in Windows (google it ), you should be able to mount it in the file manager GUI like any other disk.

Almost every distro of linux has had NTFS read ability for decades. They have had write ability for maybe 10 years common.

The distro you have would determine if your user needs some permission to mount or not usually. Many common distro's will just mount on click in file manager.

If you want to mount it in CLI (terminal) you should be mount it in the file manager GUI , and use:

#cd /media/user_name/disk_name

Wine isn't necessary to mount it nor view media (except maybe games), VLC is free and plays damn near anything - and as already mentioned, it will most likely auto-mount, if not you may need to install package(s) like ntfs-3g for mounting it.

sudo mount -t ntfs /dev/sdXY some-directory

where X is a letter (Hard drive number a=1,b=2 etc)
and Y is a digit partition number

I've been experimenting with udisksctl to mount usb drives when X isn't running

Depending on your distro: perform

or

Then install the same and mount as other mentioned above.
