Mounting LVM troubles.

I have installed Fedora Core 6 on an external hard drive (usb). I let it do the partitioning and it set it up as a logical volume.
The trouble I'm having while using SuSE 10.1 on /dev/hda is adding the correct line to /etc/fstab so I can mount the external

This is the line I have in /etc/fstab

/dev/sda /sd ???? noauto,users,exec 0 0
Is /dev/sda incorrect? Should it be '/dev/VolGroup00' ?

The trouble is the file system type. What do I put here?

I have the same problem with Slackware and FC6. FC6 uses ext3 for the filesystem. Do you know if SuSE has the drivers for logical volumes and groups? The fstab entry should refer to both the volume and group. You can boot your FC6 and get the entry from its /etc/fstab. You should be able to mount your SuSE partition and make the changes to its fstab from FC6. There can still be problems as FC6 installs selinux. I have yet to get Slackware to see the logical volume.

Thanks for your reply. I never thought to look in fstab while booted into FC6 and see how it is listed in there. BRILLIANT!!

Thanks. See, sometimes the answers are very simple. I'll have to do this tomorrow and once I find out how it is listed in /etc/fstab, I'll post the results in here just for future reference in case someone in the future has a similar problem or question.

Thanks again.
