Question mounting hard drives and permissions

I finally understand I need to mount the hard drive I want to view, but that introduces two new questions:
1- how do I fix it where the hard drive is mounted automatically each time I log in (Windows XP hard Drive)
2- I have had trouble "getting permission" to write to the Windows Hard drive. I am told I do not have permission.

Please help... thanks...
