Mounting a partition as a raw filesystem and searching for strings
I have a disk partition which was originally a Btrfs filesystem and got partially overwritten by mistake by a UFS filesystem.
I want to mount this partition as read-only, in the hope of recovering from it as much data as possible.
Since the first GBs of the partition were overwritten, there is no hope of being able to mount it as BTRFS, so my only chance is mounting it as raw data and searching for specific strings.
Since I am a newbie at Linux, I don't know how to do it.
Could you please provide instructions on how to:
1. mount a partition as a raw filesystem with the READ ONLY attribute
2. search the mounted partition for specific strings -- and possibly getting this command to dump the search results into a text file
Thanks
