Question mount: special device /dev/scd0 does not exist


can anyone help me with getting my cd dvd player to work?

If you managed to work out the problem by yourself, it might be helpful to post it here so that it can help others.

It's also a good idea when first asking the question to provide a few details about it so that the problem can be diagnosed. I don't think anybody here has clairvoyance strong enough to peer directly into your computer.

I've just recently encountered the same problem. The message appears when trying to mount the cdrom, in this case /dev/sdc0 as /media/cdrom0. After switching from Debian 6.0.1a Squeeze stable to testing this is the line as it appears in fstab for my cdrom:

/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0


so I don't understand why Linux (Debian Wheezy/Sid, when I login identified as Linux 3.2.0-1-amd64 #1 SMP) doesn't recognize my cdrom. Any help appreciated.
