mount keep asking my system file type. why?


sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt

mount: you must specify the filesystem type

It probably means it couldn't auto-detect it, which means there could be a problem with the disk (corrupt filesystem, etc). If you do specify the filesystem type, does it mount correctly?

You could also specify the FS with -t. You'll then get a more intelligible error message if the FS is corrupt for example.
