mount fails

1. Logged in as root.
2. Trying to mount a 15 GB share on a Windows Server 2008 machine.
3. Mount command -

mount -t cifs -o user=domain/myusername,pass=mydomainpw //FQDNofServer/sharename /etc/name

where /etc/name has already been created with mkdir.

Fails with "wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on //"share", missing codepage, or other error"

tail | demsg yields several repititions of:

CIFS VFS: cifs_mount filed w/return code = -22

What am I missing?

I suspect that 'FQDNofServer' does confuse the 'mount' tool, though I'm not sure of this. Have you been able to mount any CIFS device using this mounting scheme? My approach would be something like using an IP number and username directly:
mount -t cifs -o user=someone //192.168.1.104/sharename /etc/name

I also would rather use another location for mounting - /etc is not really meant to hold mounted volume, and maybe permission issues are part of your problem.

Yep, doing better using the IP address and moved the mount point to another directory. Now getting that the share is "not a valid block device."

Still Cannot Mount

1. Still logged in as root.
2. mount -t cifs //ipaddress/sharename -o user=myusername,password=mypassword,domain=domain.name /mnt/tempfiles

results in -

mount: block device //ipaddress/sharename is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: cannot mount block device //ipaddress/sharename read-only

3. From dmesg|tail

CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13
CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -6
CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -22
CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -6
Status code returned 0xc000006d NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13
CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13
Status code returned 0xc000006d NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13
CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13
