mount drives


hi here i am again with a big problem.i installed mandrake linux 8.1 yesterday and i work only with it.no windows,nothing.i done security updates and today when i tried to connect to the net i received an error that my pppd daemon died suddenly.well there was a url that could help me.i connect with a different pc and download a file.i write it on a floppy.when i tried to open the floppy i get an error that it couldn't mount the floppy.pls somebody help me with this

What kind of error did you get. There is many things that could go wrong when trying to mount a floppy.
If the entry in your /etc/fstab for the floppy is not correct then using a complete command to mount the floppy would help.
Try:
mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

You have to make sure the directory /mnt/floppy exists. And your kernel will have to support the filesystem type msdos. Sometimes you might need to do a insmod msdos to get support for it if you are using modules and your kernel doesn't autoload modules.
