Mount a USB drive

Command:

/dev/sdc /mnt/usb ntfs

Response:

-bash: /dev/sdc: Permission Denied

Have a Blade with a USB drive. Want to have the USB drive available to VM O/S's. I can see the drive in XenCenter but not within the O/S/'s (which are Windows 2008 R2). Ran the command above. No luck.

I logged in to the XenCenter using root.

What am I missing besides Linux experience? This is my very first look at Linux.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

You need to mount a partition, not the whole drive.

Assuming a single partition on the drive, try mount /dev/sdc1 /mnt/usb -t ntfs

if you're not sure about the partition structure, check with fdisk -l
