Most commonly used console commands

Being a newbie to Linux, I was wanting to compile a list of the 10 most commonly used console commands and what they're used for since I don't know anything about the Linux console terminal or how to use it. I thought maybe compiling a list of the 10 (or so) most frequently used ones might give me a good start.

Thanks to all who contribute =)
