Ok i got that user thing sorted out. BUT now ill try to open konquerer and the little egg timer in the task bar just sits there and spins forever and nothing opens (no windows open) now lol any help will be appreciated.

problem is: you open the program and it doesnt seem to load/open?
open a terminal and type the name of the program/command to run it... that should give you more info about whats happening

how would i type the program name in terminal? and what is terminal lol?

solved? what is/was the problem? ie, what happened after you ran the command at a terminal?

nah lol i dont know what terminal is and what name would i put in to run anything

a terminal is like a command prompt.. its like dos, lets say. if your in windows and choose 'run' and type 'cmd' it is something like that (not really though ;))

since your using konquerer, i guess your using KDE as your desktop environment.. in the main menu, there should be a 'terminal' or 'k-terminal' or something similar SOMEWHERE in the list.. maybe in system or system tools or something? i dont use kde so i dont know where/what its called.

once that is opened it will let you type in commands rather than run a program from your KDE GUI.. type the name of the program your trying to launch, ie: type 'konquerer' and hit enter.. what output is displayed if any? or does that hang too?

You can start whichever program in this way as fas as you know it's name.
