More aesthetic menus in debian cinnamon

Hi everyone. I am currently using debian stretch (9.1), with the cinnamon desktop environment. But I notice that my desk looks like this:

However, I have noticed that in many images the menus look like this:

My question is whether this is due to the office issue, to my setup or if it is due to distribution.

If it is due to the settings, how can I configure cinnamon to display the menus as in the image above?

If you remove/insert icons from the left vertical bar, the height of the menu will change.

Changing the screen resolution could also account for the differences in style.

Hi.

I had to pull them side by side to see the difference, I still don't?

If you go to the edge of the menu do you get one of these ⇥ or the corners for the drag and resize icon?

On the Cinnamon DE of the Debian version of Mint (LMDE), I get:-

(On a 1920 x 1080 screen) - and note that Cinnamon Windows are slightly transparent.

Might also be affected by your choice of Cinnamon theme.
Cinnamon is extensively configurable.
