monitoring network traffic....


i wanted to monitor the network traffic i.e what is download speed, upload speed, total download, upload etc. just like du meter for windows. i tried netstat but it didnt gave me much info...

You can use iptraf to get something similar to du meter. if you need something web based, you can use ntop

iptraf command not found coming on my system(fedora core 5)...

i wanted to ask that is their any command to get to know those things and if not how difficult it would be for a newbie to construct such an application....

also if anybody can help me or want to work with me on this application s/he is most welcome....

Then you install it using your distro's package manager.
