Monitor screen resolution in ubuntu desktop10.4 will revert back to 900 * 600
Hello:
It is an old P4 machine, that I had installed ubuntu 10.04 desktop edition on it way back, year ago. I have wrestled with the monitor resolution, a few times in one year, so far. Unfortunately no matter what I do, and which solution I grab from google search, and apply to it, it will always revert back to Code:

Code:
man Xorg Code:
man xorg.conf |

Thank you RockDoctor I actually got the resolution of both my screens after login and the login screen itself, switched to my favourit resolution, which is 1024 x 768 yesterday. I found a solution posted by someone on the web, through Google search. Do you know how to change the screen resolution for the big ugly splash logo screen? http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-t...4-140810.shtml I even tried this solution, but it didn't work. mansour |
Haven't tried it with Ubuntu. With Fedora, I just boot eliminate the rhgb parameter on the command line and boot to the cli. No ugly boot splash, just a bunch of text scrolling by.

Hi RockDoctor: Do you know how I can login to the Xterm.org Forum to ask my question as you suggested. I am out of luck, no matter how hard I tried yesterday and all night, I didn't succeed. I register, and send them the info, but get no response. Something is wrong with their web site or I just can't figure it out. Has anyone else run into this problem with their Forum? or is it just me? mansour |
I got a blank page when I submitted my info.

I too got a blank page. But I also wasn't able to login, no matter how hard I tried. Were you able to login at all ? I couldn't login at all. I am puzzled. Do I need to download a software first, before being able to login? It isn't friendly at all. Has anyone on this Forum been posting anything there on that Forum? mansour |
No login - I get a blank page again :banghead:. The same blank page shows up (ok, maybe it's a different one, but it looks the same :D) when I try after deleting my .mozilla folder. FWIW, I'm running firefox-7.0.1.

The FAQ section or their first page suggests that if you have a problem contact the Admin. But how? There is no way of contacting the Admin. I think the Admin has no idea how inaccessible his Forum is!!!!!!!????? mansour |
