Monitor probs
 
Hey guys... I just got red hat to install and it got past the nast "finding module dependancies" that I as having troubles with (stupid mouse). I'm getting an error saying it is having an issue with the "screens" is there a way to tell it the monitor is a generic? it won't even finish the boot... i gives me the login to root... Again... i'm a super newbie

I'm using readhat 9. the exact message and error I'll have to look up... but I have knoppix running now at least. I've been tring to get a dristro working... I love it... now i'm going to try harder to get one of the other s working.... can Knoppix help me get redhat working? since thins one is running can i steal all the info outa it? :D thanx for replying so soon!

From Knoppix, print the /etc/X11/XF86Config (or XF86Config-4) and look at the "InputDevice" section (identifier:Mouse1), "Device" section (your graphic card), "Monitor" and "Screen' sections.
You probably can use these settings in redhat: boot redhat in console mode (init 3) then edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4.

I installed mandrake... the problem about the mon isn't there any more... but I alway boot into console mode... not graphical... i log in using user and passwrod. but all it gives me is text... an I screwing up somewhere?
