Question Monitor Problems with Red Hat 6.0

Hi ppl!

I wanted to install red hat linux 6.0 to my old computer (Pentium II) and everything went fine until they asked me about my monitor which was not on the list of screens they provided. My monitor is a Belinea 103030. Has anyone else had a problem like this and how did you solve it or has anyone any suggestions for this...

I tried to probe the monitor but then the monitor just went blank. I also tried to set the colours to VGA but then in the command driven linux i put the command startx which was supposed to start linux and it said that linux is unable to run GUI in VGA. I dont have the manual for the screen as it was used. I also cant buy another version of Linux as I live in africa and there are not many computer shops and the internet connections are extremely slow so i cant download one either...

Help desperatly needed!

You need to pick a set of vertical-horizontal sync values.

I used to guess back in the days. After 4 5 tries it used to work for me.

Plus also consider installing fedora core 1 its small-sweet supported version of older redhats.
It does monitor thing automatically.

All you need to do is do a search to find the V&H refreshrate for your monitor, and edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf or I think RedHat uses /etc/X11/XF86config

Also if you want a free Ubuntu disk take a look at this page. I think all you need is a valid email address and they will ship it free of charge. Note: it takes awhile to get over here to the states but it may not take long at all as I think they are located in Africa.
