Monitor goes to sleep shortly after Install start

I am trying to install OEL 6.2 (64 bit) on my system. Here is what's happening:
1) I start the system with the bootable OEL Installation DVD.
2) I get a screen GNU GRUB version 0.97 with the following 3 options
a - Oracle Linux Server 6.2
b - Install system with basic video driver
c - rescue
3) I select Oracle Linux Server 6.2 option.
4) I see the installation process beings with Linux penguin logos on the top.
5) The process stops for a few seconds with last line as ing/sbin/loader....
6) The Monitor goes to sleep and there is no activity whatsoever from there on.

Why is this happening and how can I install Linux on my machine?

So what results do you get if you select "rescue" which I reckon should be a live RAM based version?

Then again, with a hung monitor or no video, what do you get if you select "Install system with basic video drivers"?

Play Bonny!
