Monitor Frequency Out of Range
Hi all,
I setup a mandrakelinux with a particular monitor after which i did not change the desktop resolution. I get this error when i connect the SU to a new monitor after it boots and wants to load the desktop: Frequency out or range, unlike windows where one could have used safemoce what conf file is responsible for changing the desktop resolution and where is located? Is it possible to also have a VNC for mandrake linux cos the WINE is not Emulator seems not to function properly. Any ideas Thanks! |
config file in /etc/X11. It's called either XF86Config or xorg.conf.

I have a similar problem:
I am using mandrake 10. I changed my settings of monitor resolution to 1280*1024 pixels.(From mandrake control center) It said: "You will have to logout and in again to make the changes effective" I did so.......but now my login screen doesn't come; instead I get a message : "out of frequency....." on my monitor with ablack background !! Any help??? I am able to login as root in console mode. Thanks in advance |
In the above mentioned config file is a section monitor. In this section are two lines HorizSync and VertRefresh. Adjust the values to what your monitor can handle (you have to look them up in the monitor manual).
They look like: Code:
HorizSync 30.0 - 70.0 |
ok, your monitor has specs for horizontal and vertical ranges. These need to be set properly in the above mentioned config file. If you don't know what they are:
Google: +"monitor model" +"specs" and look |
Thanks...I got it!
I logged in as root and changed my /etc/X11/XF86config file and filled 800*600 resolution in the Section Monitor and all the Sub Sections of Section Displayand except in field Modline. It made me letting login with 800*600 resolution. Now i changed again my resolution to 1024*768. Thanks! |
