Monitor cannot display XServer in latest Fedora release.

Hi.

I'm trying to learn Linux and recently upgraded to Fedora 8, I have access to the command line and the OS works fine this way. The problem is when I run XServer, my monitor reports that the Signal is out of range first, then it reports that there is no signal and goes into standby.

The OS is still running, it's simply that the monitor cannot display it.
I own a 17" Hercules 920DVi LCD monitor so it's a few years old and I'm guessing the technology has moved on since.

I am going to upgrade the monitor to either:
Samsung 22" Wide Syncmaster T220 or
Samsung 22" LCD Syncmaster 2233BW

Can anyone tell me if these units will be able to display the current video driver in Fedora 8?

You'll find the product descriptions here;

Many Thanks.

Adrian.

I belive this is a video card driver issue.You can serach google for the driver you need.I guess that you have ATI video card,so search for those drivers.Btw,for my desktop pc I use Samsung Syncmaster CRT monitor which is almost ten years old and it's working great.For me Samsung is a perfect solution for many products,like monitors,mobile phones etc.
