monitor broke, switched to new monitor, now have unsupported resolution black screen
New Monitor has HDMI and VGA, New Monitor does not have DVI.
Computer video card has VGA and DVI, videocard does not have HDMI.
My only plug in option is vga. Ubuntu now can not detect the video resolution so it just defaults to the old monitor settings which is not supported by the new monitor.
So how to fix, running windows just to post a question. I tried booting to recovery in low graphics mode, but that stops at a screen with an option reconfigure graphics screen and the keyboard dies, and none of the 4 options are selectable.
I should not have to reinstall the OS, I know that would work.
Is there a console command to run to fix the resolution?
