monitor blank after closing x

hi all -

i use KDE with Slackware. when using a Konsole in X, pressing Ctrl-Alt-Backspace gives me a black screen with no command line interface. similarly, selecting 'log out' from the K Menu gives me a black screen. anyone know whats up? i'm simply trying to exit X to a command line interface.

thanks.

Try hitting Ctrl-Alt-F1 (or F2-F6). This will give you a virtual console to log in with. F7 is the one used by X.
