Smile Monior out of timing

I am having problems with my monitor. I have a HP Pavillion windows ME. I had to go back to my start up discs and ever since then when I try to do anything my monitor (SYS TFT not the one that came with computer)goes black and the message comes on for a second that says "OUT OF TIMING" then goes black. The computer seems to be working fine but I have no video. If I run the start up discs it comes up fine and allows me to set up intenet and E-Mail but the problem starts when I try to do anything. Any help? I had to go back to old monitor that works fine.

Welcome to LQ

First of all, this is NOT a Windows forum. And you've posted it in the wrong section. If you're that desperate to fix the problem assuming you couldn't find any solution anywhere on the net, you should post this in the General section.

1)For your problem check the refresh rate settings of your monitor and read its manual to know what are the supported modes.

2)Windows ME is sh*t. Atleast get a 2000 or XP.

Don't be surprised if you don't get any more replies. I'm too generous...
