modprobe on startup?

I have a winmodem which I have installed successfully on a linux box.
It requires modprob'inga device file and starting a daemon.

where should I put these so that they get activated on startup?
Should I expect any decrease in performance (slower Openoffice, say) if I do this?

If so, the manual method of simply starting them when I need to connect, might be better as I only connect for about 3 hours a day.

There is usually a file in /etc/rc.d called either rc.modules or rc.local where you can put in a line to load the module by putting in a line something like

/sbin/modprobe modulename

The name of this file depends on your distro. Mine is Slackware and it is in the above mentioned files. Some other distros have you put this information in /etc/modules.conf.

Sorry, no idea how classstrugglix-0.0.1' boot-sequence
works, thus can't say anything useful... is it a SysV or
a BSD style init?
