ModProbe looking for wrong modules?
 

On bootup, modprobe is looking for some libraries under 2.4.25 kernel directory. As far as I am aware, I am only using the 2.4.22 kernel.

I kind of have an idea where to change this...any suggestions would be greatly appreiciated :)

My question is...where did the 2.4.25 come from to begin with?

The system was installed from the Slackware 9.1 CDs and has never been connect to the Internet yet (gotta get my NIC up and configured first...).

just mv or delete the 2.4.25 modules directory if you don't use it.

Before doing anything check which kernel you're running:
uname -a

Now this is interesting....uname -a shows the 2.4.25 Kernel.

Yet, in the /usr/src/ only shows a linux-2.2.22 subdirectory.

A locate 2.4.25/ shows the onlin instances under /usr/doc/modutils-2.4.25.

How did I get a 2.4.25 Kernel if there is no 2.4.25 src directory????

Go to one of the slackware mirrors at

http://www.slackware.com/getslack

And get

./slackware-current/slackware/k/kernel-source-2.4.25-noarch-2.tgz

Thanks for the note and I am aware where I can get the source files....the problem is I would have to DL them , burn them to a CD and then copy them over.

I don't think that this is necessary, at least it shouldn't be. I should be able to get this system up and running with the files it came with.

How does one simply tell modprobe to use different files?
