I was playing with Fedora 13 and I noticed that we need to run manually and then only it displays floppy icon.Why it is needed to run manually or disabled at first?
any specific reason why its disabled by redhat guys?

Probably the same reason it's not loaded by the ubuntu guys. No one uses floppies any more.

It's not enough to say "well I do". You aren't the target audience. How many machines in the last 6 years have been sold with a floppy drive ?

Actually I would rephrase your statement to;

From a world standpoint there are a lot of machines that still use a floppy drive as the means to exchange data, limited by today's standard but still a fair method.

So the ability to enable the hardware is a wise decision. It still surprise me as to how some still look at the situation as the only way. World situations, Universal usage should be a applied thought. Not singular!

You noticed I changed the OP's pejorative term "disabled" to "not loaded" ?
The OP always seems to take the stance that the distros make concious decisions to make things difficult.
IMHO, he needs to make an effort to understand the wider picture.

I agree but most people don't even read the documentation provided let alone try to fully understand intrinsic operations. Curiosity can be a good thing at times.
