modem zoom, open office glitch
i have mandrake 10, and am trying to configure my modem, it is an external zoom usb v-92 data/fax modem, i think some external modems don't need a driver, what i need to know is, what is the lettering for usb port..../tty/what ever etc......total newbe...so thanks....
oh and one other thing, when i was installing mdk 10 there was a glitch when installing open office, i tryed aborting install, and starting form scratch, twice, must be a scuff on the disk.......so is it possible to uninstall office with out doing any damage, and reinstalling of a linuk magazine disk i have... Thanks :newbie: |
Hello Chippie,
External modems maybe not need drivers, but to my experience work much better with the right init string. With kind regards, Richard |
USB devices always need drivers
external modems that run through a serial I/O port need simply a correct init string and to uninstall OOo simply got o the Mandrake Control Center -> Software -> Add/Remove -> Remove it Then *hope* the RPM on the magazine is compatible, because it will take forever to download on your 56K |
so were do i get the iinit string???
thanks :newbie: |
