Modem says busy?

I was trying to down load up dates and they took so long tryed to log off . when I went to log in it now says modem busy it is dial-up I think I need to clear working up dates but tryed and got no where so can.t log in to linux help please

Did you reboot the modem?

Check with your isp. By now there must be something decent connectio n wise that might work out cheaper than dial up and provides better speed.
