Here we go:
1. Mandrake lists my modem as a
56k SGS Thomson Microelectronics when it is infact a Aztech 56k USB using SmartLink technology. A thought, does the SoftModem mean
software modem?
I then set Mandrake to look for the modem at dev/ttyS0. I then run a
query modem and the following
appears . This is using software flow control. This is what
appears when I use hardware flow control. Notice the feedback on the Konsole.
I then try (on software flow control) to dial. It then stays this
way for close to 3 min before I decide enough is enough and press cancel. What is happening here?
2. I then installed the SmartLink drivers from their site and followed the
instructions for installation of the USB modem. The following
error is then displayed.
When I build the RPMs and try to install the core driver, the following
happens . I checked and although the USB driver is displayed in the pic I can confirm that the problem lies with the core driver.
Here is another error that appears and I have no idea what it relates to.
