modem is detached???
I was reading some of the posts here about peoples modems not being reconized. And they said check the /etc/sysconfig/hwconf file. so i did and this is what it says about my modem
class: MODEM bus: SERIAL detached: 1 device: ttyS3 driver: ignore desc: "Generic Serial Modem" I'm pretty sure the 1 next to detached means a yes. and how did it become "detached" I tried unplugging it and rebooting, putting it back in and rebooting and hopefully it would find it again but that didn't work. Could I just edit the file and make that 1 a 0 then would it work? It is a ISA modem...what brand I'm not sure. And another quick question I have a PCI modem installed in my computer also. Its the modem I use in Windows here's what the hwconf file says about it class: MODEM bus: PCI detached: 0 driver: unknown desc: "Conexant|HCF 56k Data/Fax Modem" vendorId: 14f1 deviceId: 1033 subVendorId: 1092 subDeviceId: 0abe pciType: 1 - now could I download drivers for this modem and be able to get rid of the ISA modem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA |
