modem debuggin
I've just successfully installed Red Hat 7.1, and have an external modem that was recognized and installed automatically (Whew, was that a hassel), but now the auto dial-up to my ISP gets rejected, apparently due to a faulty password. The password is correct in the setup, but to trouble shoot whats actually happening during the attempted login, I need to run the modem direct from the terminal and see what the responses are. I've looked a lot to find how you can do this, but so far with no luck. I'm hoping some pro can tell me the technique. Thanks.

What program are you using for modem dial-out?
What GUI are you using? I am recalling the following from memory, since I am booted to W98 at the present: I use the KDE GUI and, for dialing out, I use KPPP Dialer. Using KPPP Dialer, you can do all the configuration stuff, and you can also choose to see a login screen that lets you know what is going on. See if this helps. If not, post more. |
