Modem Configuration
 
Hello
i am very new user of Linux redhat 9 kernal 2.4.20-8
i have hardware modem MD5628D-L-B
According to readme.txt file provided with drivers

steps to install
1. login as ROOT
2. extract the archive into a directory with "tar -zxvf <archivename>.tgz"
3. cd into the directory it created.
4. Type: make clean
5. Type: make ham
6. Type: make install



when i use the command MAKE HAM (inlowe case) on Path ==> /usr/local/src/intel-v92han-453 then i got following Errors

[root@localhost Intel-v92ham-453]# make ham
Module precompile check
Current running kernel is: 2.4.20-8
/lib/modules... autoconf.h does not exist
please install kernel source
make: *** [check] Error 1
[root@localhost Intel-v92ham-453]#


Please tell me what to do because it is beyound the limits of my knowledge in Linux redhat

You have same post in Hardware forum. Double-posting is not appreciated here.
You have to do what error message says - install kernel source.

please install your kernel source.

Use the Add/Remove Software Icon in the system tools section fo your gnome / KDe menu

thanks you for your advise..to install kernal source at least i have a clue that some thing called kernal source is the solution

And for double post i am so sorry for that it is because i dont realize first that there is a Newbiz area too, Alocated for like me who are new so when i realize, that i done a mistake so i send same post here from where infact it belongs
