Two things for you. You can try to disable 'com 2' in your bios and see if you get your modem detected on reboot.
Or
Pop the case off, and pull the card, and write down the chipset off the card. This will help you, as the process is different for 'regular' modems, and 'winmodems', but we don't know which kind of modem you have, so try the first thing first,and if that doesn't work, post the info on your chipset, and you can do your own little hunt at URL
