mldonkey configuration?
i have mldonkey running on fedora. seems to be properly installed, but after startup it shows me "connecting" text endlessly, but never really connects. (i am behind a lan, but that was not an issue, as i read somewhere)
how can i deal with this problem? |
has'nt anyone really configured mldonkey?

I had major problems with mldonkey and instead use Apollon, which I would strongly recommend to anyone. It is great.

exactly the same thing with apollon. :(
maybe i should see my firewall settings, but how do i do that? |
When you setup apollon you had to run "gift-setup" to set up your connections, you need to read each step carefully and put the right values in or you will be in trouble (not able to connect). The first question tells you that it needs a value other than zero so it will connect to the network, it defaults at zero and unless you change it you won't be able to connect. Now for the firewall thing, there is a question asking you to input a port to connect on and it states that if you have a lowid or are behind a firewall that you should enter a value of zero here so it will automatically assign an available port that will connect.
