Missing top and bottom taskbars? (Gnome/Fedora)

I let my Fedora 10 auto-update about a week ago and now I don't have my desktop bars, top or bottom. Desktop icons are there, and I can launch programs and the file manager just fine. I think it might be the desktop effects, however I don't know how to disable them since I have no access to the menus in the gnome panel. I was thinking of removing compiz from the console as somebody mentioned on another forum, but it has way too many dependencies and rpm -e is not cutting it.

Also, I have checked my Xorg.conf and everything is in order, driver/resolution wise. Something got screwed up in the last update and I don't know how to fix it.

Anyone any ideas?

Did you try opening a terminal, and running from there the “gnome-panel” command?

Yves.
