Missing program Icon

Hi One of my program icons "Sun virtual box" has disappeared. I,ve tried everything I know to locate it includeing customizing menu etc to no avail. I know the program is still there.

Can anyone suggest how I can locate and or create an icon for this program?

Thanks

I think if you'd take more care proof-reading your posts for spelling & punctuation, you'd get more help.

Also, do you not yet know what the default DE is in Ubuntu? If you don't, you might ask.

If English is not your native language, putting your real location in your profile would give us a clue that you need more slack in judging your use of the language.

Yes you are right I should take more care proof reading prior to postings, no excuses. My native language is English. Reside in Sydney Australia. I will update my profile when I get the time.

I am very much a newbie with Linux (And PC Acronyms for that matter)after years of windows use so very much on a steep learning curve here.

No I do not know what the default DE is in Ubuntu. But I have commenced teaching my self via online Linux tutorials etc so that I have the knowledge which applys me to contribute rather than withdraw knowledge and information from Linux forums .

Thanks for your comments.

Missing icons are not a big problem (see below) - I wonder why you ran into problems, though - didn't you use Synaptic (the package manager) to install Java? It's the easiest way to get a fully integrated Java distribution. Besides, it comes preinstalled... But then, bugs happen...

Ubuntu is using GNOME as a desktop manager (or desktop environment, if you like that better), and there are several ways to create starters and menu icons. The easiest ones: You can create starters on the desktop directly (try a right click); with Alacarte, you can adapt your menu in any way you like (System -> Settings -> Main Menu). Just explore both possibilities and come back with those questions you're not able to solve yourself.
