missing gcc, cc, and cl

I am trying to install alsa drivers on my computer and I get the following and then it won't install....

checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc.... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH

Does anyone know where I can dl all that stuff?
I'm using slack 9.0

You just need the Development GCC compiler package. Not sure about how to get things for Slack.
You might need other development bundles too, Binutils is one which springs to mind.

It should be on your cd, if not www.slackware.com/getslack has a list of mirrors you can download from.

I got em from slackware.com its strange cause I've installed slack before and never been missing files, but this is my first 9.0 install.
