Missing CD & DVD
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 on an HP Pavillion dv6700 laptop. I have never been able to play either a cd or dvd on this system. (Not on the previous Ubuntu 10.04 either.) I just installed the GNOME device manager from the Ubuntu Software Center, and I can't fine anything in the list of devices that looks like a cd/dvd player. What's up?
Thanks in advance -- JZD |
Look in the Gnome menu for multimedia applications. You should find your audio and video apps there.
If you don't find them, then you may not have them installed. Use Synaptic to see what you have installed in the multimedia category, as well as to see what is available to install. |

It's not the applications that are missing, it's the devices. The applications can't find the devices.
