Missing battery icon on my fedora 9

Hi All,

I have installed fedora 9 on my dell XPS few days back. Everything's working fine but its not showing me the battery status. I am using GNOME desktop and i have searched in 'Add to panel' but i cant find anything related to battery.

'dmesg | grep battery' gives me
'ACPI: Battery Slot [BAT0] (battery present)'

and '/proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info' contains

present: yes
design capacity: 5200 mAh
last full capacity: 4652 mAh
battery technology: rechargeable
design voltage: 11100 mV
design capacity warning: 520 mAh
design capacity low: 157 mAh
capacity granularity 1: 52 mAh
capacity granularity 2: 52 mAh
model number: DELL FW3027
serial number: 1425
battery type: LION
OEM info: Sanyo

Any ideas what can be the problem.

Thanks,
Gaurav Talwar

Use the application manager and search for "battery". All packages that have something to do with monitoring battery will show up. Install the one is for Gnome.
In KDE, the Kpowersave package is responsible for battery monitoring.

Right click the top panel, select Add to Panel, Choose the Battery Charge monitor, click the ADD button.

I believe this is in the gnome-utils package

well that's one way to get it in gnome.

Hi All,

Thanks for the responses. It works now. I had to install power manager for GNOME. After this i was able to 'add it to panel'.

Cheers,
