Missing auth.log?

hey peeps
I cant find auth.log nor can I find kern.log. search for them in /var/log with no results
Im logged in as root via ssh
Im running fedora 5

I have a "secure" file in /var/log? is that a replacement for auth.log?

You would have to look into your system logging configuration(s) or some such thing to find out which services are being logged. The applications are probably running but no logs are maintained. Find the appropriate config file(s) to add auth and kernel logging, and the logs will appear in /var/log.

Hi,

And welcome to LQ!

Is FC using syslog, syslog-ng or some other daemon for this?
Which log-files DO you see, and how recent are they?

Cheers,
Tink
