Mint4win install problem

Hello All: I am a new linux user. I am trying to install linux mint os inside windows 7. I am trying to use mint4win installer to do this. When I try to install mint os I keep getting an error message saying that install already detected, uninstall and then reinstall. When I try this nothing works for me. How can I install linux mint insidr windows using the download mint4win file?

Thanks,
tennisbum

What kind of media are you using that has Linux Mint on it?

A DVD or CD or do you have Linux Mint on a USB formatted pendrive?

Also are you installing to a Desktop PC and Laptop or some other device?

Anyway if you don't want Windows you can tell the 'Mint installer' to completely take over the entire drive. Or you can install Linux Mint alongside of Windows.

install linux mint (mint4win)

I downloaded mint from the internet to my desktop pc hard drive. Then I use unetbootin to extract the files and set up the installer and boot loader so I can use mint along side windows 7. I do not have a cd rom burner on this pc. I have a pen drive but I can't get my pc to boot from a pendrive. This pc is about five years old. I might just install mint by its self and forget windows. Thanks very much for the help and advise. I am new to trying to learn linux.

I'm glad it's working for you now!

Congradulations! Here's a few websites that you can learn from:

www.linuxsecurity.com
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Security-HOWTO/
www.opensource.org
www.linuxtopia.org

And your distributions wesite as well:

http://linuxmint.com/

You can also learn from the terminal by looking under:
man man and man help

Here is an introduction to Bash
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Bash-P...o-HOWTO-5.html

Over time you may want to learn shell scripting and the Bash Introduction will help you.
