Mint 18-Unalbe to watch TCM OnDemand Movies only

I have had Mint 18 x64 MATE about a month. I like it a lot and it work nearly perfectly. However, I am not able to get Turner Classic Movies On Demand to play, I Google'd this and the only hit I got was my own thread here from Mint 17.1 about 5 or 6months after I first began the Linux conversion of my computers. I had lots of copying and pasting experience in that endeavor, and, I am happy to say the computer works, still and happily plays live streaming and the on demand movies.
with Mint 18 the workarounds or tricks , whatever, do not work , or , are not supported. Since I really didn't know what i was doing with the tricks i copy/pasted I cant just fiddle with the terminal to make things happen, since i don't know what did happen then nor do i understand what isn't supported anymore with the fixes. I used "Devilspie" that was a significant piece of hot the turner movies began playing again. It seems that the pipelight or flash or shockwave just isnt catching with this one site.
I can do//play anything and everything else in browsers, Firefox and/or chrome(and opera, vivaldi i tested too) I play any YouTube vids, Acorntv streaming, I got rid of Netflix after 7yrs due to its content changes and my tastes, but It was working. I play just about all my saved ISO, videos i downloaded and backed up in iso or folder/file formats mkv ,et c etc.
If anyone has experience with the Mint 18 and Turner classic movies problem (or has no trouble at all) I would appreciate any tip or hint as to what I might be able to do in order that the flash/pipelight or shockwave kick in.
I have tried a bunch of browsers to make sure it wasn't just a bad set of plug-ins in Firefox. If any one knows how to do the tricks that worked,ie devilspie, in mint 17 happen in Mint 18,Id appreciate that too. I have a year of making mistakes and learning as i go along so may be able to understand what the heck I did then-I have grown well past the blind copy/paste stages of my beginning months of Mint use
I do the pipelight-plugin --enable and all that too just to be sure the shockwave, flash , x64 flash and silverlight plug-ins are loaded, enabled or disabled too.
thanks
John

Is "Turner Classic Movies On Demand" a particular web site?

devilspie does not appear useful as it says:-
Quote:
This tool will find windows as they are created and perform actions
on them, such as resizing, moving to another workspace, or pinning
them to all workspaces.
Try contacting Turner Classic Movies On Demand for assistance - or use a different option.
You could investigate bit torrent for downloading movies (but not necessarily legally).

I have contacted turner and posted on the forum there as well. devilspie worked with 17,1-3 and continues to work in my other machine. I found that on ubuntu or superuser link . i haven no idea, yet. as to the way it works and am learning about Linux mint ,but the mechanics of many things come slow. I will search for the information on the link i used 10or so months ago when i got it to work. I have found a few others with similar issues who have tried to use devilspie, then there was a devilspie2 or something to make sure that flash would catch the window or the window launch flash properly. I dont know if i have conflicting flash or flash alternatives working at cross purposes or if that is even possible. Firefox appears to be configured similarly in both my mint17,3 and the mint 18.
but thanks for the information.
the Turner Classic Movies On Demand is a service i pay for through the cable tv subscription. It is supposed to only be available for people who subscribe. so , i figured they would be the place to go for answers. alas, they arent . I have posted on the peer forum and the technical part as well. It isnt an easy thing for someone to guess about on the other end. I just keep trying and looking for someone else who may have overcome the issue. I realized that there wasn't a huge pool of people who just upgraded to Mint 18 and that use Linux to watch turner movies. since all other html5 and flash services and sites work, one of which is paid the focus on my end is to look at turner. but that may be wrong too.

devilspie2 is an improved version of devilspie.
It lets you control sizes/positions of windows that you open on your desktop.

As a test, you could always try a live boot of Mint 17.3 from DVD/USB and see if you can get it to work with "Turner Classic Movies On Demand".
However, you may encounter difficulties in making this work - so it won't prove that its not working.

thanks that live boot of 17.3 on my 18 machine is something i never would have thought of. I know the stuff works just great in 17,3 in the machine i have right next to it, same network same versions of chrome, chromium and Firefox, synced for a while till i did the 18 upgrade. though the chromes are all the same across my network here at home.
i tried that devilspie2 and nothing happened, i did whatever the page indicated and was afraid i might mess something up in the new and clean install of mint 18. i did not upgrade the prior 17,3 which had amd proprietary drivers and other things i wanted not to use .so did a clean install with a few of my saved settings and backed up stuff from the mint back up util. worked out ok in all things but the one playback site.turner
oh ,well. cant have everything all at once. i made it work somehow or other in 17.i had similar issues that led me to discover all the information on pipelight-plugin i never heard of before that and about devilspie which seemed to be the thing which made the flash or shockwave launch with the movie or browser, i still dont know how it all worked exactly, just what i read about it. and those URL and sticky notes i tried to save though the move to 18 got lost. or the HTML bookmarks are buried somewhere in the enormous list of import/exports among the browsers.
If I can make one of the browsers play back turner classic movies , i can leave the awful windows 10 in the dust. now i only go to it in order to watch the on demand movies i miss and didnt want or forgot to DVR/PVR them.
not a huge problem , but one i am sure will have a happy ending sooner or later.
thanks for the tip. not sure if it will prove anything but it is something i never would have considered.
John

I found how and why I used devilspie. It was to make sure flash launched in a full screen. My issue now is getting flash to load at all. I just get the spinning wheel.i am able to use parts of the java script on the page, but the movie will not load in my mint 18x64 . it does in my mint 17machines. i am still trying to figure out why it is that one site, among the half dozen or so i use, that is having trouble with flash/shockwave videos. i used the pipelight plugin and all the same things as in the past . so, am still working on the issue.

https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ will tell you what version of flash you have installed.
Don't attempt to follow any of its download instructions, though.

In Firefox, follow the Tools -> Plugins link and see what it says about the Shockwave Flash entry.
Hopefully, you have one and it has a version of 11.2.202.637

If not you should use the standard methods to install it from the secure repositories.
