The package manager is having trouble with the mirror, and so it can't find the release file. Try again in a half hour.

That link has simply stopped working no matter when I check back.
How can it be deleted? and is it crucial to have contacted?

Look in /etc/apt/sources.list and delete the affected mirror.

I just went into Update Manager/ Edit/ Software sources / PPAs and unchecked all the deb URLs and it did the trick.
