Minor Package Problem
 

Still using Mint :) Instead of trying to explain I tell you what happened.

Tried to use the package manager before I did the initial updates to install teamviewer... it was a pretty automated procedure... other than go to the website I only had to click yes a couple times. The program did not seem to want to install so I cancelled the process and did the many initial updates instead.

After the updates I went back to the team website and downloaded again except this time it only downed the deb file and didn't try to install. I tried a second time and the same thing happened. Then I rummaged around in a few folders and couldn't find the downloaded deb files anywhere.

Normally for something this minor I would just do a google search but this forum has a reputation system based on the helpfulness of a members posts so I figured it would be beneficial for people less noobish than me but still not gurus. Z/Z

Where do you think it downloaded to? In other words what is your default download folder for the download tool you are using? Where does it say it put it? Have you tried using the search function in your file browser? Nautilus has one, I'm not sure about the others. Just do a search for .deb or something with the name of the deb you think you downloaded.

Firefox claims it automatically downloads files to a folder called "Downloads"... I checked there and many folders that would seem most likely. I put "teamviewer" into a search window and turned up nothing but maybe I need to add the .deb extension. Z/Z

In Firefox go to Tools > Downloads and that should bring up the downloads window. Right click on the download and then click "Open Containing Folder". This should open the downloads folder and you should then be able to find the file you are looking for. Once you have found it right click on it and select "Open with Gdebi". It should then install for you.
