Question Minor Number

Hello All,

What is a minor no in a partition table? When I do parted I can see minor no what is that?

major device node numbers corespond to the controlling driver.
minor device node numbers distinguish between individual devices on that major driver.
for instance a primary IDE driver can have more than one device attached to it.
individual partitions on a hardrive i think are represented as seperate minor devices.
