Minimum requirements to install mySql.

I installed Redhat 7.1 (off an old CD set) on a PIII with 32 MB RAM and 2 GB hard disk (IDE). NO GUI support.

This was for training purposes (Commad line basics and shell scripts).

Next we loaded Apache and "php-ver4.1??". Tested with text files as a "database" and it works fine.

Now I want to load mySQL. So my questions:

(1) Is 32 MB with no GUI support sufficient to load and configure mySQL. (Old version will do).
(2) If not what would be the minimum configuration?

End

You should be able to run anything you want in text mode (at the very least, locally) on 32 MB RAM (64MB swap?).
Why are you asking instead of going for it? :)

2damncommon, Good question.

Yup, 64 MB swap. I suppose it's the thought (FUD) of running a regular data base on a 32 MB RAM machine.

Will try it and give you the feedback.
