Minimized Window and cant find it!!! Newbie

:( Hi all....I have looked at these boards and cant find an answer for my question!! I'm running Red Hat 9, just made the transition from Windows to Linux and although I'm certified in many areas of Windows & Cisco I find myself back-to-the-drawing-board on Linux.. But luv it to bits. I have installed Shockware as well as Nvidia drivers and got it all workin...BUT IM BUGGERED if I cant work out how to MAXIMIZE my windows in Linux. Once they are Minimised they disappear....down to the bottom right of my desktop. Believe me ...Im laughin postin this one!!! Please Help!!

Thanks Gandalph

ok were to start?, in linux we use a 16 year old windowing system called X, its purpose if to unit the vendors of machine and make it easter for programers to program there programs in 1 language and feel confident it would work on other machine, it provies transparent network capabilities, and most important HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW YOU WINDOWS LOOK ORGANZED MINIMIZED OR whatever, it provides everything needed for that stuff, only its the window managers job to manage the windows, theres no suport for "minimizing" in X11 (X verson 11 revisn 6 i think its on)there is iconification, meaning that if the window manager suports it, it can replace you window with a icon, mybe thats what happened when u minimzied your window, the actual window is in memory, but it wont be seen on the screen untill it either asks to be or untill it is told to,
for better help mybe you should tell us what desktop your using (cuse ur probly using KDE or GNOME), if you dont sue a desktop environment, then what window manager do you have?

What?

Gandalph: I have no idea what SciYro said (as usual), so I may be repeating him...
It would be very useful to know what window manager you are using, since each handles things in its own way.
In the meantime, you might try a right-click or middle-click on the root window (the desktop) and see if you get a menu item called "icons" or similar.
